My name is Nick Caramela. I am a graduate of Savannah College of Art an Design who has earned a BFA in Sound Design. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA, and in addition, earned an Avid Pro Tools 11 HD 210P Operator certification. I was initially interested in music at a very young age, and later became drawn in by film. I became completely entranced by the design of sound for film, and decided to pursue a career in the industry.
During my time at SCAD, I explored all aspects of sound for film, including location sound, dialog editing, Foley, sound effects editing, music editing, and mixing (both stereo and surround, music and film). I became obsessed with sound effects editing in particular, and hope to continue to develop my skills, gain experience in the industry, and develop my own unique style, while assisting directors in creating powerful, moving films that effectively captivate an audience the way I was at young age.
I was honored to have won the 2015 Verna Fields Golden Reel for my work as a sound effects editor on the short film Sea Odyssey. The same year, I was fortunate to have received an additional nomination for the Verna Fields Golden Reel for my work as a foley artist and editor on the short film HOMINID.
I currently work at Soundtrack Group NY (a Manhattan/Boston based post production sound company) and freelance on the side. I hope to continue my path toward success in the industry by developing more connections, and continuing to work towards my goal of someday becoming a Supervising Sound Editor and Sound Designer.
